After completing four years of teaching and scholarship at Chicago State University, Dr. Ananth joined the IU South Bend faculty in the fall of 2007.

Teaching Interests:
Dr. Ananth teaches all levels of philosophy, including ethics, ancient Greek philosophy, and philosophy of biology. He has recently joined the Masters of Liberal Studies faculty and taught courses in philosophy of biology and metaethics/value theory.
Research Interests:
Dr. Ananth’s research efforts include publications in the philosophy of biology/medicine, bioethics, philosophy of mind, and popular culture. He has completed a book on the concept of health, In Defense of an Evolutionary Concept of Health: Nature, Norms, and Human Biology (Ashgate, 2008) and an introductory text in the philosophy of biology, Brining Biology to Life: An Introduction to the Philosophy of Biology (Broadview Press). He is also currently working on essays pertaining to Aristotle’s aesthetics, ethics, and physics.
