No. The B.S. degree include the requirements of these certificates.
No. The B.S. in Computer Science degree requires students to enroll in science courses that are taken by science majors. These courses should allow students to develop an understanding of scientific method and must include laboratory work. Consult the campus bulletin or your advisor for list the of approved sciences classes.
Beginning Fall 2016, undergraduate students enrolled at all Indiana University campuses, including IU South Bend, will pay one rate for their basic tuition when taking between 12 credits and 18 credits. No. These courses are designed for non-majors. If you take them they will only count toward general elective credits. Also, many students take these courses to obtain their Certificate in Computer Applications.
Yes. Failure to do so will usually result in the CS secretary notifying you that your registration has been canceled. In some cases, you may lose your tuition. So please make sure that you have passed all the prerequisites for a course before you enroll in it. Check this page regarding coursewaivers.

The department's policy is to allow independent study classes to be offered only in those cases when a regular course in the topic is not offered. In addition, the instructor must agree to offer such a course. View the policy regarding independent study.
If you receive an "F" in a course, you may "FX" that grade if you take the course and receive a better grade. The FX will not count in the calculation of your GPA. There is a limit on the number of credit hours that this policy applies to.
In order to change your grade from F to FX you must file a Petition to Apply Indiana University FX Policy. Check the campus registrar's website.
