How to Apply
Application to the MPA program is made through the Admissions Office at IU South Bend.
Click on the “Graduate Students” link and it will take you to the page where you can fill out elements of you application. These include:
Personal Statement
Each applicant must write a personal statement (1 ½ - 2 pages typed) that addresses both your academic and career goals. Your statement should specifically address how your pursuit of a MPA degree or Graduate Certificate relates to these goals.
Curriculum Vitae (or Resume)
Letters of Recommendation
Three individuals should be asked to write letters of recommendation on your behalf. They should be persons who can judge your capacity and motivation for graduate study. The letters of recommendation may be uploaded through the admissions webpage. Alternatively, the letters may be mailed directly to the department using the address below.
Transcripts
Official transcripts are required for all previous undergraduate and graduate work outside of Indiana University. Transcripts should be ordered in time to reach the MPA Admissions Committee by the deadline listed for applications.
GRE (Graduate Record Exam)
Please note that if your undergraduate G.P.A. is less than 3.0, you must arrange to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Such applicants must score at least 150 in each Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning and a 4 in Analytical Writing. (450 in each Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning on the pre-2012 GRE scoring system). The official results of the GRE should be sent to the Graduate Director, MPA Program at the address below.
