M.A., Indiana University South Bend, 2001
IU South Bend faculty member since 2001 (staff member since 1995)
My primary area of teaching is in developmental psychology. As a graduate student and instructor, my early research interests were focused on childhood cognitive development, particularly theory of mind research. My current focus is on teaching and learning and have collaborated with peers on projects focused on effective teaching strategies and improving student success.
I teach General Psychology, Honor’s General Psychology, Lifespan Developmental Psychology, Psychology of Childhood and Adolescence, Psychology of Aging, and Psychology Lab Internship. Under my direction, the Psychology Lab provides student and faculty support for General Psychology courses. I was instrumental in developing the Psychology Lab as an undergraduate and graduate student.
My graduate student research focused on learning strategies and student success, which continue to serve as the foundation for the services we provide, and the activities students engage in. Interns serving as course assistants benefit through peer collaboration focused on supplemental instruction to enhance student learning, and other activities focused on professional and academic development. In turn, their work provides an additional source of experience to include in graduate school applications.
Research interests include childhood cognitive development, particularly theory of mind research.
