A native of Madrid, Spain, Associate Professor of Spanish Oscar Barrau is an educator who has taught Spanish language and Hispanic literature and culture for almost 30 years. He holds a Ph. D. and a M.A. in Spanish from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in History and Spanish from Weber State University, Utah.
After teaching for the University of Louisiana Lafayette for 8 years, Oscar joined IU South Bend in World Language Studies (WLS) in 2003, where he served as Department Chair between 2011 and 2017. His current service activities include WLS´ Language Program Assessment Coordinator since 2010 and founder and Faculty Advisor for the International Journal of IU South Bend.
