The Department of World Language Studies seeks to empower students to thrive in a multicultural, multilingual global community. Our students gain greater understanding of world affairs in an historical context, an enhanced knowledge of the traditions, achievements, and lifestyles of the international community, and an appreciation of differences and similarities among peoples and nations. Through language proficiency and intercultural communication skills, students develop the confidence to engage in meaningful ways with diverse communities in local, regional, national, and international settings. These marketable skills enhance our graduates’ competitiveness in a wide range of fields.
