Timothy Willig is Associate Professor of History. After earning a BS in Mathematics and Physics at Grace College (Winona Lake, IN) in 1986, he subsequently did his graduate work in History, taking his MA from Western Michigan University in 1997, and his PhD from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2003. He teaches courses in early American History, Native American History, Indiana History, and Western Civilization since 1500. His major work, Restoring the Chain of Friendship: British Policy and the Indians of the Great Lakes, 1783-1815 was nominated for the Bancroft Prize. He continues to study and research British-Indian relations, as well as US-Native diplomacy during the era of the Early Republic.
