About
I have taught at IUSB for close to thirty years. My field was Modern Drama. Before coming to South Bend, I had lived mainly in large cities. I was born in Berlin, studied in New York and London, and worked at US as well as European universities. But IUSB stood out, especially for its students, many of them the first in their families to go to college. I admired their dedication and hard work, balancing jobs, family, and classes, and relished their enthusiasm and dedication.
At the end of my career I served as Director of International Programs, helping IUSB students to study abroad which, for many, turned into a life changing experience.
My first books and articles were academic discussions of modern drama and modern literature. Later I got fascinated by local history, biography, and memoir.
