Alpha Phi Sigma recognizes academic excellence of Undergraduate and Graduate students of Criminal Justice. The Mission of Alpha Phi Sigma is to promote analytical thinking, rigorous scholarship and lifelong learning; to keep abreast of the advances in scientific research; to elevate the ethical standards of the criminal justice professions and to sustain in the public mind the benefit and necessity of education and professional training.
The Criminal Justice Department at IU South Bend is the proud home of the Kappa Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma. To obtain membership, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2, and a 3.2 in the Criminal Justice major. Inductees must also rank in the top 35 percent of their class, and have completed at least four (4) courses in the Criminal Justice curriculum.
Induction takes place every Spring. Qualifying students are contacted shortly after the beginning of the semester. For further information, contact Dr. Colanese or Dr. Xu.
A new plaque was added in our department to honor annual inductees. Drop by the Criminal Justice area of the second floor of Wiekamp Hall to see it!
