Rick Seniff has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Bethel College and a Master of Science Degree from Indiana State University.
After retiring from the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office in 1994 with the rank of Captain and with 24 years service, Seniff served first as an adjunct instructor, then as a Visiting Professor with Purdue University at the South Bend campus in the Organizational Leadership and Supervision Department. He has also served as adjunct faculty at Purdue North Central, Indiana Wesleyan University, Tri State University, and Ivy Tech State College. In addition, he was a training consultant with Seniff Associates, a training resource and performance improvement company specializing in customized training.
Rick was elected as Sheriff of St. Joseph County in 1998. As Sheriff, Seniff had the opportunity to utilize his extensive law enforcement experience and his knowledge of Organizational Management and Leadership to implement Strategic Planning and create a Mission and Vision statement for the Department. He instituted new and creative programs to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Sheriff’s Office and change the culture to reflect a more positive and professional image.
After completing his term as Sheriff, in December, 2002, Rick returned to Purdue North Central in January as part-time faculty in the Organizational Leadership and Supervision Department, and also began teaching criminal justice topics as adjunct faculty in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IU South Bend. Rick is now a full-time lecturer in the Criminal Justice Department of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
