George V. Nazaroff Scholarship

This scholarship is honor of physical chemistry professor emeritus, Dr. George Nazaroff, who helped lay the foundation of our department and also chaired it for many years. Preference is given to our students who perform well in our physical chemistry courses (CHEM-C 361, 362), contribute to departmental activities, and show intellectual aptitude. This single-year award is typically for $1,500.

ELIGIBILITY

  •    Chemistry GPA of at least 3.0
  •    Overall GPA of at least 2.5
  •    Pursuit of a Chemistry or Biochemistry major

Gretchen Anderson Pathways Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of our first full-time biochemistry professor, Dr. Gretchen Anderson, who established the biochemistry major. The amount for this single-year award typically ranges between $1,000 and $1,500.

ELIGIBILITY

  •    Overall GPA of at least 3.0
  •    Declared major in Chemistry or Biochemistry
  •    Completed at least 12 credits hours at IU South Bend

Carolyn and Lawrence Garber Summer Research Scholarship

The Garber family generously supports undergraduate research for a chemistry or biochemistry major with a $4000 award for summer research at an IU campus. The award is for ten weeks of full-time research and is paid out in three installments, with the final installment paid on completion of a final report describing the research project and progress.

ELIGIBILITY

  •    Chemistry or Biochemistry major
  •    Overall GPA of at least 3.2
  •    Intent to pursue post-baccalaureate studies
