Research
My research interests are in the fields of comparative physiology, entomology, and insect physiology. Much of my work has addressed the physiology of mosquitoes. These insects are cause millions of human deaths each year through transmission of diseases. My recent work addresses the role of serotonin in regulation of appetite in the larval mosquito, and the effects of non-lethal concentrations of serotonin-selective reuptake inhibitors and other psychotropic drugs on the survival, behavior, appetite, and growth of aquatic invertebrates.
